Edamame and Chives

Edamame Seedlings

My edamame finally sprouted from seed after about a week. They were the first to sprout out of all the plants I recently started from seed.  It’s amazing how quickly they grow!  I think I may need to transplant one or two of the seedlings to their own container, since the one I sprouted them in is pretty small.

Next to sprout were the chives — you can see one or two of them in the dirt now.  I don’t know if they’re technically sprouts, since they’re grass, but I can’t wait for more.

The First Tomato of the Season

I picked my first tomato off my tomato plant today.  It felt a little soft and it certainly smelled ripe.  I was a bit unsure because it was so small, but I guess the Black Prince variety of tomatoes can run on the smaller side.  It was juicy, savory, and not really that sweet.  The skin was thicker than I expected, but the inside was delicious.

I hope my little tomato plant produces a lot more!
