My favorite Korean drama so far has been this one called Pasta. It’s about a woman who just graduated from being a kitchen helper to a line cook. Her dream is to become a chef. On the third day of her job on the pasta line, an upheaval happens in the restaurant, all the women cooks (including her) are fired, and a new, young chef takes over as executive chef.
What appealed to me about the show is that most of it takes place in an Italian restaurant in Korea. There’s lots of food and kitchen porn and I think I even picked up a couple of tips from watching the show. The chef was a complete ass at first and continued to be an ass, but he grew on me and the romance was slow and gradual, for a Korean drama at least.
Pasta also had one of the sweetest declarations of love from one character to the other. I knew the declaration was going to come sooner or later, but what surprised me was when it came and how suddenly it came. It definitely caught me off guard.
Then, there were the later episodes, where I got a little teary eyed at the love triangle drama. It just sucks when the nice guy never wins out in Korean dramas!

I love Korean dramas. I’m still trying to finish Boys Before Flowers but I think I might need to check this one out. Thanks for posting!

I tried watching this last year, as the male lead was also in Coffee Prince (which I LOVED), but I just couldn’t get into it. Maybe because it was hard reconciling the fact that the male lead was a pretty decent guy in CP, but a total jerk in Pasta. You’ve interested me enough to contemplate watching it again though.
I am loving this series. Thank you for posting about it. 🙂 If you want to check out another K-drama that has food as part of the storyline, I recommend Gourmet which is available to watch on Hulu.
I have part of Gourmet downloaded already, but right now we’re sidetracked with IRIS.
I swear, if I wasn’t already a strong supporter of the OT3(ish) way out of love triangles* BEFORE I got into K-miniseries, I sure am NOW, & more than ever! I watch & I cringe & I watch some more, all while desperately wanting to escape the inevitable cliche ending that I ~kno is coming, but the ongoing cuuteness keeps me ~addicted, damnit lool! When will the series come along that one day, actually does not end in a ~choice? (still also lamenting the bad writing of Mary Gets Married- my name for it- which totally had sooo much OT3 potential, as well as plenty of slashiness actually on-screen! eeep)
*OT4s & OT5s too? yeahh, they can be a thing too.. let’s just say, I have a veerryy looong list of “don’t make me choose!” ships from various fandoms, ahaha ;P
